This technique can be very useful when dealing with sciatic pain. Sciatic pain is produced by applying tension to the sciatic nerve. With specific motion, nerves naturally form a “groove” in our soft tissues (muscle, fat, connective tissue). We can take advantage of this chemically-based ability with flossing, the goal being to free up any impingement of the sciatic nerve.
For this exercise you will need a tall chair or the edge of a table. Any stable surface that will support your body weight and allow your legs to swing freely.
If you feel ANY pain, reduce the range of motion. This detail will keep you out of pain.
